The story reflects the traditional character, values and culture of the people of Cyprus through the struggles and adversity of Maroula and her son lived through. ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Maroulla Mavrou, comes from Famagusta city in Cyprus.
As a student, she achieved an outstanding academic record in Greek literature and displayed exceptional skill in creative writing. She was a restless spirit, and after college began to express her thoughts as well as her life experiences in the form of short plays and stories. From a very young age Mavrou participated in many local and national writing competitions. She was rewarded for her exceptionally good work with enthusiastic reviews, distinctions, awards, and honors.
In August 1974, she was forced to abandon her beloved Famagusta, along with all the other inhabitants of the city who managed to escape the Turkish invader. She left with her family and settled in Limassol. Mavrou has a son and a daughter. She lose her husband in 2013.
